Wild fishing at Dusun Meliau, Kalimantan Barat, Borneo in quest for Channa Micropeltes(Giant Snakehead), Channa Pleurophthalma(Kerandang), Blood Carp (Jelawat Pipi Merah) & Belodontichthys dinema(Begahak)

Its almost towards end of 2015 and here i am back to the wilderness on the other side of Malaysia. Yes! Our neighbouring country Indonesia specifically Dusun Meliau, Kalimantan Barat. Rumours said that fish are an easy target during the dry season and the main lake "Danau Sentarum" are totally dried out at this time. I would say 4m-5m of waters gone! Dried out!

Freshwater Fishing trip to Ulu Skrang, Sarawak - Quest for Hampala & Tor

This is my 2nd trip to Ulu Skrang and the 1st time was in 2012 if not mistaken. Nice place and real wild fishing spot.

How to get there? From Kuching to Layar will take u at least 4 hrs by land and another 2 hrs to reach the Ulu Skrang thru the logging area.

The hardest part will be when trekking upstream for almost 4 hours til you reached the Lanjak Entimau National Forest Reserve boundary/border. Even with less catches due to overfishing by the local villagers (during dry season only) but still the wild natures manage to take my breath away. Awesome place!!!!

Light Jigging with a hardcore boatmen in Bintulu Oilrig

Its almost a year i didn't go for a fishing trip offshore of Bintulu, Sarawak. Having a good friend and such a hardcore angler@boatmen will suits Ting Hua Leong character. With numbers of good fishing spots and seriously 100% of my trip with him was a successful trip.

This time we are targeting D18 oil rig area which is located approx. around 50 nautical miles from Bintulu shore. It took us almost 4 hours to get there. As usual i'm equipped with jigging rods provided by Extreme Anglers ranges from PE 1.5 to PE2.5.

1st cast with my 1st catch of the day and more follows after.

Never misses the Big Eye Trevally

Kerandang @ Channa Pleurophthalma Danau Sentarum, Dusun Meliau, Kalimantan Barat, Island of Borneo

Its been a great time with a great friends while fishing at Danau Sentarum, Dusun Meliau. We managed to get there in less travel hours by driving from Kuching, Sarawak across the border to Lanjak and then hired a boat to Dusun Meliau.

Other routes:

1) Kuala Lumpur - Jakarta - Pontianak - Putussibau by air (it takes more then a day due to flight schedule) then continue the journey by land for almost more than 2 hours and another 2 hours boat ride to the Dusun Meliau Longhouse.

2) Kuala Lumpur - Kuching-Putussibau then continue the journey by land for almost more than 2 hours and another 2 hours boat ride to the Dusun Meliau Longhouse.

This time, we are hunting for Kerandang aka Channa Pleurophthalma. Quick question: Why must go to Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia to hunt for Kerandang? The main reason is because we can't find it in Sarawak, Malaysia as their neighbouring country and mountains as border.

Hope you guys love below pics.
